Students who are eager to study in the UK would find many sources of funding their education. There are a number of scholarships and awards for international students given by the British Government and other UK organizations. You can approach your own Ministry or Department of Education to get information about the funding available. If there is an office of the British Council in your country then it can help you to know about the relevant schemes. However, if there is no office of the British Council you can try at the British Embassy or High Commission.

Some of the Scholarships in the UK are discussed below-

British Chevening Scholarships-this scholarship scheme offers exceptional Indian students the opportunity to study post-graduation at leading universities in the United Kingdom. The eligibility criteria for this scheme –

• The student must be Indian national along with a valid Indian passport.
• For Masters Scholarships 21-35 years
• For the Chevening Gurukul Scholarships 28 to 40 years
• Students applying for a Master degree at a UK institution must remember the course should not be more than 12 months.
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)

Common wealth Scholarships and Fellowships are offered by the commonwealth. The eligibility for this scholarship are-

• Awards are usually available for the citizens of any commonwealth country.
• Scholarships are usually available for the Masters degree only.

Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme (ORSAS)

It is meant for the post graduate students undertaking full-time study for a research degree at British higher education institutions.

Asian research Fellowship

This scheme provides support for postdoctoral researchers from a number of Asian countries for up to one year.
